STRATEGY

Provide financial support to multiple biomedical research studies that focus on autoimmune disorders.
As our first step in our strategic plan, Fundación Bechara established an alliance with the Brigham & Women's Hospital through the establishment of the Be Brave Fund supporting the Rheumatology Fund for Discovery and Innovation.
As a second step, Fundación Bechara established an alliance with the School of Pharmacy, University of Puerto Rico, to support Dr. Wanda Maldonado's research study "Characterizations of RA Patients in Puerto Rico: Demographics and Prescribing Trends."
We conduct yearly events that promote physician continuing education and provide CMEs to doctors.

OBJECTIVES

Educate our society by raising awareness about autoimmune diseases, their unique characteristics, and their prevalence in the United States and Puerto Rico, specifically how much they are affecting children and adolescents.
Develop a registry of rheumatic patients in Puerto Rico for demographic and statistical medical support purposes.
Sponsor collaborative efforts to help fund research on innovative treatments and possible cures for autoimmune diseases.
